Oakland County House Dems endorse Jeremy Moss for State Senate

All Michigan House Democrats from Oakland County today endorsed their colleague Jeremy Moss to serve in the Michigan State Senate.

“The Oakland County Democratic delegation in the House works strongly together as a team to take on the big issues in Lansing. Each of us brings our individual skill set to the Capitol every day to address our constituents' concerns and advocate for our communities in Oakland County. I’m so honored that my colleagues are supporting me to bring that same effective representation to the State Senate,” said Moss, who represents Southfield, Lathrup Village and other Oakland County communities in the State House.

Moss is running for the 11th State Senate District based in southern Oakland County, which includes the Cities of Farmington, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge and Southfield, and the Charter Township of Royal Oak.

“The key to maintaining a robust economy in Michigan is cultivating a skilled workforce. I’ve partnered with Jeremy to push for policies that will adequately fund Michigan schools so that every student can fulfill his or her potential, without interference from a profit-driven DeVos agenda. Jeremy will be a champion for public education in the State Senate,” said State Rep. Christine Greig, former president of the Farmington Area PTA Council.

Greig, the House Democratic Floor Leader, represents Farmington and Farmington Hills.

“Jeremy and I share progressive values because those values are just common-sense to the emerging generation of millennial leaders. I’m excited to continue to work with Jeremy as our State Senator to push for bold changes to how Lansing operates, and am a proud co-sponsor of his work to end gerrymandering and increase government transparency,” said State Rep. Robert Wittenberg.

Wittenberg is currently in his second term in the House and represents several communities within the 11th State Senate District, including Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak Township.

“I’ve worked alongside Jeremy since we were both officials in local government in Oakland County. As a former Southfield City Councilman, Jeremy fully understands that the tax dollars our constituents pay to Lansing must return back home to provide for the essential services that residents depend upon. We’ve been fighting together to restore that critical funding and I know Jeremy will be a loud voice for our local communities in the State Senate,” said State Rep. Jim Ellison, the former Mayor of Royal Oak.

Ellison represents Madison Heights in the 11th State Senate District.

Moss also earned the endorsements of State Rep. Tim Greimel, the former House Democratic Leader from Auburn Hills, and former State House members Maxine Berman, Paul Condino, Rudy Hobbs and Nancy Quarles, each of whom preceded Moss in representing Southfield and Lathrup Village.

The State Senate seat will be open in 2018 due to term limits.
